The movie Avatar connects to Native American history culture in many different ways.  In the movie the characters switch back and forth from there normal human body to a creature who is given human like traits.  The Native Americans used this a lot in there stories.  In the movie the characters also chose to defend there land just as the Natives would.  They lived off the land and fought for what was important to them.  Just as in real Native American history in the movie there were spiritual rituals and traditions that were important and strongly in forced.  Avatar is a great way to connect to the Native American Culture.

"If a story is not about the hearer he will not listen.  And here i make a rule - a great and interesting story is about everyone or it will not last."

In this quote I believe Mr. Steinbeck is stating that people are selfish.  The quote is saying that if the story that a person is reading is not about them then they will not have interest. Without having interest people will eventually think its boring and not wanna read it. Sometimes being selfish is not always bad. Sometimes mean u have great self confidence and want more for yourself.  John stated that "...a great and interesting story is about everyone or it will not last to me that means that when people can relate to something in a story it will keep them wanting to read and keep them infatuated with it.  With out people keeping something in demand or popular it will eventually fade away and people will forget about it. This quote can have many diffrent meanings to it you just have to think to yourself what it means to you!
